A proposed Formula One race is planned to take place on a temporary street circuit in New Jersey, across the Hudson River from the Manhattan skyline. The event will be known as the Grand Prix of America.

After being included on the initial release of the 2013 Formula One schedule, the event was canceled in October 2012 after it was revealed that there were delays in repairing the city streets and obtaining permits. Organizers are hopeful the event will debut in 2014.
