On 4/11/2021, Daunte Demetrius Wright, a 20-yr-old African-American man, was fatally shot by police officer Kim Potter during a traffic stop in Brooklyn Center. Afterwards, Wright attempted to flee, but crashed his car into another and hit a cement barrier. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The next day, police said that Potter meant to use her taser but accidentally grabbed her gun instead, striking Wright with a shot to his chest.
