Snarestone Is a small village farming village in Leicestershire. In the Domesday Book the village is mentioned as ‘Snarcetone’ and is referred to as the farmstead owned by a man named ‘Snar(o)c’.
The village is built over the top of the Snarestone Tunnel on the Ashby Canal and is situated on the edge of the National Forest and some 5 miles (8km) north of Ashby de la Zouch also in Leicestershire.
The village is laid out along Main Road, which runs roughly east to west and Quarry Lane which runs north to south. There is a wide variety of hosing types including some thatched roofed cottages.
