Somerville Depot is a Defense National Stockpile Center (DNSC) facility which stockpiles strategic metals and ores. Among materials stored are antimony, asbestos, beryllium, cadmium, chromium, copper, cobalt, iodine, mercury, mica, quartz, rubber, tannin, titanium sponge, tungsten, ferrochrome, graphite, columbium carb, ferrocolumbium, ferrotungsten, talc, tantalum, germanium, indium, jewel bearings, quinidine, and quinine. The site occupies approximately 77 acres of federally-owned land.
