Lake steamer Tarjanne was launched in May 1908 and still today sails the same route through Näsijärvi lake to the town of Virrat.

From spring 1916 until winter 1917 Tarjanne was part of the Satakundskaya Flotilla, a brown-water navy unit of the Imperial Russian Navy.
