Starodevichesky or Starodevichy Ascension Convent (Russian: Стародевический или Стародевичий Вознесенский монастырь, lit. Ancient Maidens' Convent - to differ from New Maidens' Convent) is a female cloister in the Moscow Kremlin, which contained the burials of grand princesses, tsarinas, and other noble ladies from the Muscovite royal court. Founded by St. Eudoxia of Moscow, widow of St. Dmitry Donskoy, in 1389. She was the first noble lady who would take the veil there.
