The original structure was built in the 1930s and 1940s and housed the Polish National Alliance College Campus. In 1990 the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania bough the campus area and began renovating the buildings into a minimum security prison. Presently there are 20 buildings on the 125 Acre prison complex, with 83% of its 6 housing units that are dormitory style living. The prison offers numerous programs such as GED, Vocational Training, Support Groups and Community development programs for the inmates to participate in.
