BERGER/ABAM designed a "drive-in" magnetic silencing facility for the U.S. Navy Submarine Base in Kings Bay to service Ohio-class submarines. The facility is the first on the east coast to be constructed from nonmagnetic concrete construction and improved upon the first-of-its-kind deperming pier in San Diego (also designed by BERGER/ABAM). The Kings Bay silencing facility is dedicated for submarine use and contains permanently installed X- and Z-loop cables for quick processing of the vessel.

TRIREFFAC's state-of-the-art Magnetic Silencing Facility provides degaussing services, including ranging and deperming, to TRIDENT, fast attack and United Kingdom submarines, as well as steel hull surface craft. TRIREFFAC's MSF is the only facility of its kind on the East Coast. A high-tech "drive-in procedure is employed when bringing ships into the MSF, which saves time and reduces the cost of this essential evolution. The Magnetic Silencing Facility is also used for research for development of future magnetic systems.
