Sybil Ludington - Revolutionary War hero? (StreetView)
Sybil Ludington (April 5, 1761 – February 26, 1839) is a celebrated heroine as she reportedly rode her horse 40 miles (64 km) to warn her father (Colonel Henry Ludington) on April 26, 1977, that the British troops were planning an attack on Danbury, Connecticut. She rode the 40 miles in darkness hitting her horse Star with a stick. Many historians are dubious on the facts of the ride, but nevertheless, Sybil has a statue dedicated to her.
