The Coignet Building

The Coignet Building (StreetView)
In 1873, the New York and Long Island Coignet Stone Company built offices to serve as an advertisement for the company’s cast stone products. The company was at the forefront of the industrialization of concrete and this may be the earliest cast stone or even concrete building in the country. The building is currently (2025) for sale, with an asking price of $3 million, down from $6 million. This is an incredible deal for a premier property in Brooklyn, someone please buy it for me. The architects that restored the property have some amazing before and after pictures at their web site, in the links below.
