The Palau d'Esports de Barcelona was the
venue for the preliminary phase of the
volleyball and of the rhythmic gymnastics
competition during the Games of the
XXV Olympiad.

It was built in 1955 for the Mediterranean
Games, to a design by Josep Soteras, and
it was one of the first outstanding
buildings in Spain to be constructed using
reinforced concrete. It was refurbished in
1986 by Francesc Labastida, for the
holding of the 1986 basketball
championships.
