The Roxy Theater was built in 1930. One of two theaters in this once thriving town, now nearly a ghost town since the building of Interstate 79 outside of the city limits. It was closed around 2000.

Clendenin is a town in Kanawha County, West Virginia, situated along the Elk River. The population is under 1000. Like many towns in West Virginia, Clendenin was a "Coal Town".
