The Senate Theater first opened in 1911. Over the years it suffered several fires, and was rebuilt. It was still open in the 1950’s. After a long period of closure, it was restored in 2003 and reopened as a first run movie theater. The Senate Theater was closed on January 6, 2010, due to a fire in adjacent buildings. After renovations it was reopened in May 2011, and is now equipped with digital 3D projection.
