Flatley arrived from Ireland in 1950 with $32 and made himself into one of the nation's wealthiest real estate moguls. Now, at 74, he's slowly taking himself out of the game. He sold his chain of hotels for $470 million, and thousands of apartments for $500 million — the biggest deal ever in this state.
In 2006 he ranked the 11th wealthiest Boston with $1.3 billion.
