Thomas Peterffy's House

Thomas Peterffy is a Hungarian-born American entrepreneur. He is the founder of Interactive Brokers (Nasdaq: IBKR), and played a key role in founding the Boston Options Exchange. Peterffy worked as an architectural draftsman after immigrating to the United States, and later became a computer programmer. In the 1970s, Peterffy purchased a seat on the American Stock Exchange and played a key role in developing the electronic trading of securities. Peterffy remains the chairman, and largest shareholder of Interactive Brokers. According to Forbes he is the richest Hungarian, and the richest person in Florida.

Peterffy is divorced, with three children, though remains intensely private about his personal life. It is known however, that he is an avid equestrian, owning four horses. He has been quoted saying that buying a horse was his first goal once he had the money. He lives in this incredible Palm Beach, Florida mansion after moving in 2015 from Connecticut. It was reported that he had listed his 80-acre Connecticut estate for $65 million, but it eventually sold for $21m. Seemingly Peterffy was eager to get to better weather and enjoy his hard earned cash and many horses. In Florida, Peterffy is a major landowner with more than 500,000 acres of timberland in addition to this stunning mansion.

Peterffy currently owns an estimated 75% of Interactive Brokers still and has an incredible net worth estimated at $19.5 billion. For a time, he was the 76th richest person in the United States, and the 3rd richest in Connecticut before moving. In the same year, Thomas Peterffy was ranked 22nd in the Forbes' annual list of the Forbes 400. He was the richest Hungarian in the World as of 2019.
