On Wednesday 6th July 2022 Mike KE5AKL a radio amateur from Albuquerque, NM reached the summit of Thompson Peak and activated this summit on the amateur radio bands for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.
He made 39 contacts in total working on the 40, 30, 20, 17, 15 and 10 metre HF amateur radio bands.
The summit of Thompson Peak is 3217 metres (10554 feet) asl. It has a rating of 10 points on the SOTA groups database.
