Inaugurated in 2002 it is used exclusively for Cruzeiro’s main squad’s training, and is highly considered one of the best training centers in Latin America. Occupying a total land area of 4,200 m² on an area of 86,000 m², it is located in Bairro Trevo, in the region of Pampulha, Belo Horizonte. The project was started in 1997 under chairman Zezé Perrella. The inauguration occurred on March 9, 2002 with the presence of then Minister of Education, Culture and Sports Carlos Melles and of the Brazil‘s then head coach Luis Felipe Scolari, (who has also managed Cruzeiro), and was preparing for the 2002 FIFA World Cup. It consists of four training fields, all of which contain official measurements, and two of which have the same dimensions as Mineirão Stadium. The athletes as well as the technical commission and directors have at their disposal a 17 apartment hotel, refectory, game room, cinemas and administrative offices. The Toca II also possesses a medical center, training center with computerized devices, complete department of physiotherapy, covered thermal swimming pool, saunas, and dressings rooms. It has turned itself into a tourist attraction for visitors in Belo Horizonte as well as Cruzeiro’s fans.
