Tom Finney - "The Splash" statue (StreetView)
Sir Thomas was an English footballer who made 569 appearances for Preston North End from 1946-1960. Finney played as an agile winger for the England National Team as well, getting the call up at age 24 in 1946. Finney served with the Royal Armoured Corps and fought General Bernard Montgomery's Eight Army in Egypt and later Italy.

The Spalsh statue was created by Peter Hodgkinson and was inspired by the 1956 Sports Photograph of the Year in which Finney beat two defenders on a waterlogged pitch.
