On Wednesday 5th October 2022, Igor OE/IV3NGF, a radio amateur from Italy reached the summit of Torkarspitze and became the first to activate this summit on the amateur radio bands for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.

He made 24 contacts in total working on the 70cm and the 2, 60, 40 and 20 metre amateur radio bands.

The summit of Torkarspitze is 2574 metres (8445 feet) asl. It has a rating of 10 points on the SOTA group database.
