Townhouse Explosion

Townhouse Explosion (StreetView)
On March 6, 1970, a Greenwich Village townhouse at 18 West 11th Street exploded due to premature detonation of a nail bomb being assembled by members of the radical leftist group, Weatherman. The blast killed three persons and injured two others. The four-story townhouse was reduced to rubble and caught fire. It has since been rebuilt.

Actor Dustin Hoffman and his wife Anne Byrne were living in the townhouse next door at the time of the explosion.
