At first called the "VanWagon" on early press materials, the Toyota Van was an imported version of the one-box LiteAce van, released in the U.S. market in 1983 for the 1984 model year. Even though one-box commercial vehicles remain popular in Australasia, it never got the same attention as the larger, more conventional commercial vans, such as those made by Ford and General Motors did.
