Spannenburg is een buurtschap in de gemeente Scharsterland vlakbij Tjerkgaast, in de provincie Friesland (Nederland). Het inwonertal bedraagt circa 400.
Op deze plaats kruisen water- en landwegen uit verschillende richtingen elkaar. Ook is het een belangrijk overstappunt voor streekbussen. Sinds 1937 bevindt zich te Spannenburg een productiebedrijf voor de bereiding van drinkwater. Verder staat er een zendmast, in de volksmond "de PTT-toren" genoemd. Deze is eigendom van KPN en wordt voor telecommunicatie en radio-uitzendingen gebruikt. De betonconstructie is 118 meter, de totale hoogte 145 meter.
Tot de gemeentelijke herindeling in 1984 maakte Spannenburg deel uit van de thans opgeheven gemeente Doniawerstal.
