Each season, the series focuses on various teams of alligator hunters, who have 30 days to make most of their yearly income culling the alligator population in the swamps. They are issued a certain number of tags each year, and once they "tag out," (run out of tags), the season is over, and they may no longer kill any more alligators for the rest of the season. Hunting alligators is a Cajun tradition dating back 300 years.

Troy Landry has appeared in all seasons of Swamp People and Pierre Part, where he lives, is approximately 1 1/2 hours from New Orleans (almost due South).

His family has deep roots in the region – five generations of Landrys have been shrimpers, trappers, fishermen, moss peddlers, lumberjacks and hunters. His wife Bernita is a History Channel publicist.

Landry's home in Pierre Part is constructed of cypress that was pulled log-by-log from nearby swamps over a period of 30 years. The home is the realization of Landry's dream - built without a single piece of sheetrock, and part of the environment in which he and his family make their livelihood. In an article about the home, Landry tells the story of how he was able to get the cypress by carefully storing each log that he pulled out of the swamps in a big shed until he had enough for construction. "When I had enough logs, I gave half of the lumber to the sawmill to have it sawed for me.” The home is positioned on a sliver of high ground along a two-lane highway between Baton Rouge and Morgan City,

Troy Landry's net worth is approximately $650 thousand.

Being a resident of Pierre Part and familiar with the Landry's I would like to add that Troy and Bernita's home was built prior to Troy's fame on television. He had lived in a mobile home for many years saving for their dream home. A lot of thought went into this home and is really something to see. Yep, it's right there is not a single piece of drywall in the house. By the way the Landry's are some good down to earth folks.

I am so hooked on Swamp People and now my husband is. I love the culture of these men and women and especially love the Landry clan. We'd love to sit down and have a cup of coffee with this family and taste some of their awesome Cajun food. We wouldn't overstay our visit to Pierre Part but would love to stay a few days.

I love the show and would love to meet the Landry clan my family has southern roots and I've always wanted to go back to my roots. I would love to visit all the hunters but money and health issues have kept me from doing so. Maybe one day.

I’m a huge fan. I watch all the swamp people shows and going to be watching swamp mystery’s. My son and I follow you on Facebook because I for one do not have Facebook. Your family is so close and every family should be like that. I refer to you as uncle Troy. You’ve been apart of my family for a while now. I would definitely love to come to Louisiana and meet you and your family for coffee one day. Or go on a gator or snake adventure.. maybe even shrimp or cramp hunt. It’s all very exciting. I hope you and your family stay healthy and safe….. sincerely,
