DOUGLAS JETS FOREVER!

Well, I'm sure that's what Donald Douglas was thinking when he created the DC-8. These birds are built like a brick outhouse and still serve well as cargo aircraft even long after their passenger days are over. Boeing might have had the best aerodynamicists and Lockheed had the best systems guys, but Douglas had structures guys who built their planes to last. It's why there's more DC-8s flying than 707s, why there's more DC-10s flying than Tristars, and why when the last 777 is retired, the flight crew will be picked up and flown home on a DC-9 or MD-80!

This is a Super 73F in UPS' attractive new color scheme. Right next to it is an A300-600F.

Not just jets! Douglas has made tough planes for many years.

I wonder how many DC-3s are still flying cargo regularly in "third world countries"?
