The Villa Alba was built to a design by a German architect called Schaefer whose wish was to replicate the monuments of the Acropolis in Athens. This Neo-classical villa was erected at the beginning of the 20th Century and was owned by the Langensiepen family. Its splendid façade has columns, a loggia supported by caryatids, a pediment decorated with bas-relief, and an ornamental stairway. In the 1960s the villa and adjoining park were acquired by the town and turned into a Convention Centre.
