An ancient market cross which was erected in 1253 and restored in 1887. It was once at site of the marketplace of Talk o’ th’ Hill, now the village of Talke. The old name of the village is a reference to its location on a prominent ridge close to the to the Staffordshire-Cheshire border.

The cross takes the form of a Latin Christian cross on top of a tapering pillar. There are large square stone steps at the base of the pillar.
