Volkswagen New Beetle w/ Eyelashes

Looks like someone decided to make his/her VW New Beetle more "human" by putting fake eyelashes on the headlights, and apparently the left one got worn out (hence why it seems to be missing there); I'd assume this won't look out of place as a cheerleader's car in a high school parking lot. Can someone tell me what purpose is that for when nothing should get inside the headlights?

But seriously, never put fake eyelashes on your headlights, it not only makes the car goofy, it can also pose a distraction to other drivers on the road.
