Wadi Run is the largest valley in Jordan and is 60 km or 37 miles east of Aqaba. The Valley has been inhabited since prehistoric times as evidenced by the rock paintings and temples. Wadi Rum is also associated with British officer T.E. Lawrence or Lawrence of Arabia. During the Arab Revolt of 1917-1918, Lawrence passed through several times. One of the rock formations is named after Lawrence's book, "The Seven Pillars of Wisdom".
