Walpurgis Night bonfire

Walpurgis Night bonfire (StreetView)
Walpurgis Night (April 30) is the eve of the feast day of Saint Walpurga, an 8th-century abbess in Germania.

While the name Walpurgis is taken from Saint Walburga, "Valborg", in Swedish, has litle do with religion and instead is associated with the arrival of spring.

Walpurgis bonfires are part of a Swedish tradition dating back to the early 18th century
