In 2002, while the house was under construction, someone started a rumor that Oprah owned the land and was building the home. Though Oprah's people denied it, the rumor spread and soon there were dozens of cars driving up to the home daily to take pictures. Eventually, the traffic got so bad that the construction crew wrote "NOT OPRAH'S" in chalk in front of the home.
