Wetherby prison

Wetherby, United Kingdom (GB)
HMYOI (Her Majesty's Youth Offender Institution) Wetherby was introduced into the Prison System in 1958 as a Borstal. Since that time there have been many changes in its role from an open Youth Custody Centre, to a closed Youth Custody Centre, to its current role as a dedicated Male Juvenile Centre housing 360 trainees aged between 15 & 17 years. The site was originally a naval base, the only landship north of London, named in turn HMS Cabot, Demetrius, Rodney and Ceres. The base was closed in 1958 and transferred to Chatham.
