William Randolph Hurst was an American newspaper publisher who built the nation’s largest newspaper chain and whose methods profoundly influenced American journalism.
Hearst originally rented the top 3 floors of the building before purchasing the entire building for $950,000, after which he added the copper-roofed mansard addition on the top where he displayed his art collection.
