World's first outdoor shake table

Located at the University of California - San Diego, this facility is an earthquake simulator used to test building designs. Since opening in 2005, several types of model structures have been erected on this pad and studied after they were put through the simulation. It can handle structures up to 2200 tons and 100 feet tall.
