Hangars 2 & 3 at Moffett Field. Built to house WWI blimps. Hangar 2 has 347,000 sq ft of floorspace and Hangar 3 has 434,000 sq ft.

I saw these too, and the references I found on Google suggest they are used to house Space Shuttle development...

Hmm. I've googled around and can't find any connection between Hangar 2 or Hangar 3 and the space shuttle. In Google Earth these hangars are incorrectly tagged as wind tunnels. The great big wind tunnel on the other side of the runway (see my pics of it I submitted yesterday) was used for airflow testing on the shuttle so maybe they are confused. The shuttle isn't really that big that it needs giant hangars like these. Maybe the shuttle stopped in here while on a piggy back ride to avoid wheather or something.
