Yuri Alekseyevich Gagarin (March 9, 1934 – 27 March 1968) was a Russian-Soviet pilot and cosmonaut. He was the first human in outer space. He rode a Vostok spacecraft into orbit on April 12, 1961.
Gagarin died in 1968 when he crashed a MiG-15 training jet he was flying.
