My pa told me that our umptenth granddad was the governor of North Carolina. This was 30 some years ago so I went to my h.s. library and checked it out...Low and behold theres Zebulon. (our last name is Vance) the thing the book I found all this in, said he was "kludd the dragon" in the kkk. Not the grand wizard as stated in the previous post.

Also, he was arrested and served around a month locked up... But he was realeased and from what i can find he filed for a pardon but after it was all over with he was never charged with anything....
