Is the Artship still at Mare Island. My dad served on her in WWII. She was supposed to have been purchased by a foundation and brought to Mobile, but they just posted that she had been bought by a private buyer to be converted to a luxury cruise ship.

I was fishing today (2/22/12) on the ship channel heading to the Port of Brownsville. There were (sadly) two tugboats guiding the ARTSHIP to the Brownsville salvage shipyard. It sure had a great life from 1939-2012. I'll post a picture of the tugboats leading the ARTSHIP shortly.
