When it opened in 1940, it went by the blandly descriptive name of the Potomac River Bridge. It was renamed in 1968 for Harry Whinna Nice, Maryland's Republican governor from 1935 to 1939, during whose term the bridge's construction was approved.
The trekearth page does have some great pictures on it, but it incorrectly describes this location as "the headquarters of the nightmarish bureaucracy", presumably the movie's Ministry of Information Retrieval, when in fact it is the setting for the "hero" Sam Lowry's apartment, as well as the pathway to the Chapel of Our Lady of the Checkout Counter. The bureaucracy headquarters was filmed at the now demolished Croydon Power Station in Cumbria.
Man, I was so gonna submit this... I got distracted by something else though... I think tyring to figure out where the Romanian Opera House was located.

I lived a year in eastern Tennessee, so I got to visit fairly regularly in 2000-2001. I'm also a big Thomas Wolfe fan, so I made my first pilgrimage down there when the post office issued a stamp to commemorate the 100th anniversary of his birth.

This is pretty cool stuff. Even though Google Earth has different imagery to the east, the tags are still visible all along the seam. Easily one of the worst stitching jobs I've seen; the transitions in this area are in desperate need of a PhotoShop brush-up.

Aruba seceded from the Netherlands Antilles in 1986 and became a separate, autonomous member of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Movement toward full independence was halted at Aruba's request in 1990.
This raises an interesting "philosophy of Googleglobetrotting" issue: does one submit maps because of their aesthetic/visual appeal/novelty or because of their cultural/geographical/historic value/novelty?
I'd say it's definitely an inflatable; with the yellow shirt and hat, one can't help but think of Curious George character, the Man with the Yellow Hat, but I think he wore yellow pants as well.
