Pictured is building TAN-629, a large, 350-foot (106.7 meter-) wide hangar built at Test Area North. More recently (since 1985), this has been known as Specific Manufacturing Capability, which uses depleted uranium to manufacture armor plating for the M1-A1 and M1-A2 Abrams tanks.

The US Army acquired the site in 1955, according to the GSA, and turned it into a Nike missile launch site, NF-03L. The US Air Force acquired the property in 1966 as Youngstown Test Annex Site for use as a Tropospheric Scatter Radar Link, part of the early warning network that hypothetically would detect Soviet missiles or bombers on their way to North American soil. The site has been closed since 1990.
