With the NHL entering its playoff push and the action on the ice intensifying, we’ve decided to highlight some of the athletes we don’t always think about as superstars: hockey players! The best in the world in hockey may not all be household names, but they still bring in loads of cash and have stunning homes!
Sidney Crosby
The most famous hockey player over the past two decades has been the great Sidney Crosby. The career Pittsburgh Penguin built a brand new 10,000-square-foot mansion in Pennsylvania. Crosby recently signed a two-year extension to his contract, suggesting he’ll continue playing until 2028!
For the NHL, Summer is the offseason, and there’s no better time to relax back home if you’re Canadian. Crosby spends his time off on a lovely home on Grand Lake in his native Nova Scotia. He famously brought the Stanley Cup out on his Sea-doo at this property.
Patrick Kane
Currently fighting for his playoff life as a member of the Detroit Red Wings, Patrick Kane will always be remembered for his great career as a Chicago Blackhawk. In fact, he still maintains his 2016-built home in Lake Forest, Illinois. This gorgeous property is minutes from Lake Michigan and not a bad place to retire a hero when his playing days come to an end.
Connor McDavid
If Sidney Crosby is the best player of his generation, Connor McDavid might be the best of the next. Three-time MVP McDavid is only 28 years old and is even drawing comparison to The Great One himself, Wayne Gretzky. Designed by his wife, Lauren Kyle, this home certainly has a unique style, though the river-valley views have received mixed reviews on the internet!
Alex Ovechkin
Another all-timer, Russian superstar Alex Ovechkin has spent his entire career as a Washington Capital. This mansion in McLean, Virginia has been his home since he purchased it for $4 million in 2012. He’s worth $80 million today!
Good luck to all these great players as they approach the Stanley Cup playoffs (but especially Patrick Kane, we’re Red Wings fans at VGT)!
