1873 – The Victory Column, originally intended to commemorate the victory of Prussia in the Danish-Prussian war, is inaugurated.

1944 – Anne Frank and her family were put on the first of the three final trains (the three final transports were most probably a reaction to the Allies’ offensive), arriving there three days later.
