1903 – A Southern Railway train known as the Fast Mail derailed at Stillhouse Trestle near Danville, Virginia. The wreck inspired a famous railroad ballad, “The Ballad of Casey Jones.”

2004 – St. Thomas More Church, the spiritual sanctuary of St. John’s University, opened its doors to the University community.
