A crocodile was blamed for starting a fire at the former North Beaver Township Consolidated Elementary School on March 5, 2009. Unbeknownst to the neighbors, the former school held a collection of animals, including crocodiles, turtles, dogs, and dozens of rabbits. One of the crocodiles knocked over a space heater to start the blaze. (Initial news reports identified it as an alligator).
In other birds eye view photos of the area, several emergency vehicles are on the scene.
This building was located behind a larger school building. Both school buildings closed in 1983 after a new school was built nearby.
