The mobster purchased this house in the late 1920s and used it during the Prohibition period as a speakeasy and as a hideaway when he wanted to escape from his home base of Chicago. His last visit to the estate is said to have been in 1931, just before turning himself in for tax evasion and serving 11 years in prison.
