Blue Lagoon Island is a private island and tourist attraction located three miles (5 km ) from Nassau, Bahamas.
In the 1800's the island was called Salt Cay as it was used as a stopover for pirates to cut salt to preserve their food. From 1875 to 1979 the island has changed hands several times, originally selling for 35 pounds. Today Dolphin Encounters owned by a local family occupies the island conducting research and education.
