The Brcko Bridge between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Croatia was heavily damaged during the Balkans War which led to the breakup of Yugoslavia. It was nicknamed the Bridge of Death.
In 1996 the US 130th Engineer Brigade rebuilt the bridge with the help of bridge-building contractors Mabey and Johnson, providing the design. The bridge was repaired in less than a month and re-nicknamed the Bridge of Fortune.
