"Mr. Van Poppel, a former employee of Alsbach's, and Mr. Broekmans who was prepared to invest in this project, founded Broekmans & Van Poppel in 1914. After a few years the company was continued by Mr. W. van der Meer, a violin- and bowmaker and in addition to this would like to have a sheet-music store. Very soon Mr. P.J.A. Ganzinotti was employed at the age of 13. He was able to expand the shop enormously and also started to publish.

In 1942 his son Giovanni joined the company and in the years after three sons of Giovanni, Piet, Ron and Giovanni Jr., joined also.
