Callahuanca has four horizontal Pelton units with a total of 73 MW. Three units totaling 38 MW were installed in 1938, the fourth unit with 35 MW followed in 1958. The station has had an installed capacity of 73 MW. Contract for modernisation of the plant was awarded in 2004 to Voith Siemens Hydro of Sao Paulo, Brazil.
