This chicane is on the new part which was added in 1984 after the section through Chimay was cut off. This chicane was added in was added in 1996 and is named after "Virage Mairesse" which was a corner on the old circuit. Virage Mairesse is named after Frence racing driver Guy Mairesse who died in a crash at Montlhéry in 1954.
