Elisa Fountain

Elisa Fountain

Aachen, Germany (DE)
As early as Roman times, the hot thermal springs (approx. 38-74°C) have made Aachen a well-known spa for rheumatic ailments. A representation of the former glamorous spa and bathing city is the Elisa Fountain with its magnificent colonnades that was built from 1822 to 1828 according to the plans of Karl Friedrich Schinkel. Take your time to study the marble plaques with the names of the celebrities of past centuries: Händel, Blücher or Tsar Alexander the Great – the haute volée went to Aachen for their spa treatments.
